Mother's Day is around the corner and I find myself thinking of all the cool moms that I know. I had 2 girlfriends visiting last weekend. What did we do with our grown ups only weekend? We taked about our kids. We taked about how much we love them, how we have let them down and how we have a passionate desire to be better for them. I love Mother's Day because it is a time to celebrate all the wonderful mothers that we know - our own mothers, the mothers of our friends and our friends who are mothers. This week we sent out a surprise gift to our April Celebrate Her Winner. I have no idea if she is a mother or not, but she sounds like an amazing woman. It is my prayer that she is blessed by this gift.
Barbara was nominated in our Celebrate Her Campaign by her friend Amy. Below is what Amy said about Barbara. If you would like to nominate someone in our Celebrate Her Campaing for May, click here for more information.
Barbara is a strong, courageous, giving woman. She has survived two different kinds of cancer with never a word of anger or self-pity. She has the best sense of humor of anyone I have ever met, and has used her humor to endure multiple surgeries and chemo, while putting her friends and helpers at ease with her plight. Barbara also is a support at our hospital for others going though similar health issues. She volunteers as a reader in the library of our local elementary school, where she is loved by kids and teachers alike. She has stood by her husband of many years during his many health crises with grace and therapeutic humor. Barbara is a great friend and neighbor, a shining example for us all.
